¥100,000 COVID-19 Japan Payout Step-by-Step Online Application Guide

Not everybody can choose the online option to apply for the ¥100,000 coronavirus Japan subsidy. Of course there’s the application by post mail, too, but the process will definitely be so much faster if done online.

So who can do the online option? Here are the requirements:

  • You should be the head of your household (If you are a single household then you are the head)
  • You have a MyNumber card
  • For laptop users: you should have an IC card reader or an android phone from this list
  • For iPhone users: iPhone 7 or newer
  • For android phone users: accepted models are listed here


English step-by-step procedure of the online application:

1. Log in to My Number Portal website
2. Select your municipality.
3. Select「特別定額給付金の申請」(application for government support money) twice.
4. Click「申請する」(apply) to start application.
5. After your operating system, browser, etc. has been checked and approved, click次へすすむ」(go to next).
6. Enter your email address and phone number, then click「次へすすむ」again.
7. Write your name in Kanji or Romaji, name in Katakana, birth date, sex, zip code, and address. Click「次へすすむ」.
8. Input the names of each of your household members and the bank information of the head of the household. Click「次へすすむ」.
9. Review and confirm all the details you have provided. Click「次へすすむ」.

10. Upload a photo of your bank passbook or cash card. Click「次へすすむ」.
11. Read the terms and click 「以上を確認・同意し、次へ」(confirm and agree).
12. Sign with your digital MyNumber card signature. Enter your pin. (Note that if you input a wrong pin for 5 times, your account will be locked.) Click「電子署名を付与する」(submit digital signature).
13. Click「送信する」to send your application.
14. You will have the option to download the pdf or csv file of your application form or have it sent to your email address.

Congratulations on completing your application! After a few weeks, your money will be sent directly to your bank from your local government.

    HI, Akiko san. I am now in the Philippines and we cannot go back to Japan for safety reason, we do not want to travel to avoid the virus. I tried to click the link for the online application but after clicking the link, it says that the link cannot be found.
